Douglas K. Mayer

Douglas K. Mayer, Of Counsel at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, practices predominantly in the restructuring and finance and complex litigation areas, with an emphasis on the representation of creditors in large bankruptcy reorganization cases, insolvency advice in connection with business transactions, complex insolvency-related litigation, and mass-tort and insurance-coverage disputes.

Mr. Mayer received a B.A. magna cum laude in the Liberal Arts from St. John’s College (Annapolis, Maryland) in 1976, obtained an M.A. in Politics from the University of Dallas in 1978, and received his J.D. in 1986 from the Columbia University School of Law, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and an editor of the Columbia Law Review. Following graduation, Mr. Mayer was a law clerk for the Honorable Robert H. Bork of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. Mr. Mayer joined Wachtell Lipton in 1989, and became a partner in 1995.
