Bill Savitt recognized by The American Lawyer‘s “Litigator of the Week”
Bill Savitt, co-chair of the Litigation Department of Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, was recently highlighted with a shout‑out by The American Lawyer in its “Litigator of the Week” feature for his role in securing a significant appellate victory for CRCM Institutional Master Fund in litigation arising from the 2022 de‑SPAC transaction that took Getty Images public.
A divided Second Circuit panel upheld a ruling requiring Getty to pay nearly $88 million to the plaintiffs—$50.9 million to CRCM and $36.9 million to Alta Partners LLC—based on claims that the investors were improperly blocked from purchasing shares. The decision represents an important win for CRCM and affirms the trial court’s finding of liability.
