Stephanie L. Teicher

Stephanie Teicher is Of Counsel in Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz’s Restructuring and Finance Department. She advises companies, private equity sponsors, portfolio companies, and strategic investors across all stages of the corporate and investment life cycle, drawing on nearly 30 years of experience guiding clients through a broad range of financing transactions.

Ms. Teicher regularly counsels clients on acquisition financings, leveraged buyouts, bridge loans, and private placements, and is known for forging long‑term client relationships and collaborating on novel and creative transaction structures. Her work spans complex domestic and cross‑border matters, and she has represented leading private equity firms, public companies, and financial institutions in significant strategic transactions.

Stephanie has been consistently recognized by Chambers Global and Chambers USA, with clients describing her as “thoughtful, commercial,” “very experienced,” and “an excellent lawyer.” She has also been honored by Euromoney Legal Media GroupIFLR 1000, and Legal 500 US, including being named “Best in Banking and Finance” at the Euromoney Americas Women in Business Law Awards in 2016 and 2018, and as one of America’s Women Leaders by IFLR in 2021 and 2022.  Stephanie has also been named as one of the top 10 financing lawyers in North America by MergerLinks.

Stephanie received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1996, magna cum laude, where she was named a member of the Order of the Coif and was a member of The Georgetown Law Journal and her B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1993, magna cum laude. Before joining Wachtell Lipton, she was a partner at Latham & Watkins and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, where she served on the firm’s policy committee and as co‑head of its private equity practice. Stephanie currently serves on the board of directors for Minds Matter NYC and the steering committee for the annual Leveraged Finance Fights Melanoma benefit.
