In Memory of Adam J. Shapiro

The partners, associates, and staff of Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz deeply mourn the untimely passing of our dear partner, colleague, and friend Adam J. Shapiro.

Adam was truly one of a kind. He was one of the finest lawyers of his generation — brilliant in his thinking, thoughtful in his advocacy, steadfast in support of his clients. Yet what set him apart, and what matters most to those of us who knew him, was his extraordinary and genuine warmth and generosity. He was, by any measure, one of the kindest and most decent human beings any of us has ever had the privilege of knowing. Adam was a wise confidant, a committed mentor to many, and a true friend to all at the Firm. His door was always open, his counsel was always offered generously, and his friendship was one of life’s great gifts.

Adam was devoted to and loved our Firm deeply. He embodied everything that Wachtell Lipton stands for — the commitment to excellence, the collegiality, the culture of the Firm as family.

Above all, Adam was a wonderful husband, father, son, and brother. We send our deepest sympathies to his beloved wife Pam, his adored sons Eli and Arthur, his loving parents and devoted sisters, and the rest of his family. We share in your profound loss and will miss Adam terribly, but he will live on in all the lives he touched so deeply.
