Charles M. Melman
Charles M. Melman is an associate in Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen and Katz’s Litigation Department.
Charlie has represented businesses as plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal courts. His practice focuses on complex commercial disputes and has included litigation arising from alleged breaches of contract, violations of securities laws, and corporate defamation, as well as mergers and acquisitions and other high-stakes matters.
In his pro bono practice, Charlie has represented several criminal defendants in federal district court and won relief in administrative immigration proceedings.
Charlie received his J.D. from Stanford Law School, where he received class prizes for outstanding performance in academic and clinical coursework and was a Senior Editor of the Stanford Law & Policy Review. Charlie received his B.A. summa cum laude in Philosophy and History from Rutgers University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and was a Henry Rutgers Scholar.
Prior to joining Wachtell Lipton, Charlie served as a law clerk to the Honorable Tamika Montgomery‑Reeves of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. He previously clerked for the Honorable Leigh Martin May of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.
