Pursuit Sports in its exclusive agreement with the National Hockey League to explore a $3.5 billion NHL expansion in Texas

On June 23, 2026, the National Hockey League (“NHL”) and Pursuit Sports, the Friedkin family’s global sports ownership and operating platform, announced that they have entered into an agreement that grants Pursuit Sports the exclusive rights to bring an NHL expansion team to the State of Texas, with a primary focus on both Austin and Houston as potential markets.  The agreement provides for an investment of approximately $3.5 billion, inclusive of the NHL expansion fee and the construction of a new, state-of-the-art arena.
